I began my surgical career in Sri Lanka. After moving to the UK I completed a structured postgraduate training programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and gained the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT – 2010) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Afterwords I completed a fellowship at Oxford University Hospital in gynaecology Oncology that was accredited by the Royal College of Gynaecologists for Sub-Specialty Training. I am a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS) and the BMA, and BSCCP-accredited colposcopist and trainer. I completed my research in image-guided surgery and surgical planning (MSc(Res)) at Oxford University while working as an Honorary consultant. I treats all types of gynaecological cancers and I am an accomplished and experienced advanced laparoscopic surgeon/minimal access surgery (MAS) for uterine, cervical and highly selected early-stage ovarian cancer.
I have a special interest in performing ultra-radical surgery for ovarian cancer; vaginal and vulval melanoma; surgery for recurrent disease and exenterative procedures. I also have a particular surgical interest in treating the pre-cancerous disease of the vulva and cervix and also exploring the value of prophylactic surgery for ovarian disease.
